Join us for a conversation with NMNH forensic ornithologist Carla Dove of the Smithsonian's Feather Identification Lab and author Chris Sweeney, whose new book The Feather Detective: Mystery, Mayhem, and the Magnificent Life of Roxie Laybourne chronicles the remarkable woman who founded the lab and pioneered the field of forensic ornithology. In a discussion moderated by NMNH Chief Scientist Rebecca Johnson, Dove and Sweeney will explore Laybourne's groundbreaking legacy, the science of identifying birds from the smallest traces, and the real-world mysteries solved through this unique discipline.Copies of The Feather Detective: Mystery, Mayhem, and the Magnificent Life of Roxie Laybourne will be available for sale and signing before and after the program.
