Elevating the Ensemble
About
Sundays, May 10 - June 14 (off 5/24), 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Elevating the Ensemble (level 3) is a five-week workshop for improvisers ready to think beyond the individual scene. Over five 2.5-hour sessions you will develop the listening, craft, and ensemble awareness that long-form work demands. The class moves from open scene work into structured long-form containers such as montage, Armando, and others, for improvisers curious about where long-form formats can take them. Students will leave with a deeper listening practice, a working vocabulary for heightening, editing, and scenic transformation, experience inside long-form containers, and sharper instincts for supporting the ensemble over their own impulse. An ensemble is not a group of improvisers performing at the same time. It's a group of improvisers listening at the same time. Come Play! Prerequisites: Level 2 or equivalent experience in long-form, scene study, or character work. You should be comfortable making scenes, building with a partner, and working from a point of view. All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges. Class Policies Patrons must be 18 or older to attend events or classes at the DC Improv. Any exceptions are clearly noted in the event descriptions on dcimprov.com.
