Thursday, April 30, 2026, 7 – 8:30 pm Objectsrepresentingjazz pianist and composer Oscar Peterson (19252007)will be presentedto the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. With his technical virtuosity, Peterson redefined the possibilities ofthe jazzpiano. Anointed the Maharaja of the Keyboard by Duke Ellington himself, Peterson not only expanded the instrument's expressive range, but also recalibrated the very language of contemporary jazz.An eight-time grammy award winner,Peterson'scontributions to the jazz worldare immense. The musical excellence thatPetersonbrought to every performance will be honored with atributeperformance by the Oscar Peterson Centennial Quartet, who toured internationally in 2025 to celebrate Peterson's life and career. The performance will feature works from Peterson's near seven-decade career, with musicians UlfWakeniuson guitar, Mark McLean on drums, BrandiDisterhefton bass, and Robert Robi Botos on piano. Seating islimitedand reservations are recommended. Seating will be opened first to Eventbrite-registered attendees and then to walk-in visitors. When we reach maximum capacity, the event will be closed to the public.
